Daniel Tuttle COVID isolation started for most of us early 2020. For the immunosuppressed, this isolation persists. People got vaccinated and pretended it's over. Case numbers never dropped, and deaths are at a high rate, making it one of the biggest killers in the US. Everyone else is gathering for the holidays, posting photos to IG in large gatherings with no masks. Those who are high risk bear the burden and be mostly alone. I love this recording because it channels all my sadness about this perfectly. Favorite track: Seclusion 22.

unhinged888 These works will tug at you. If you close your eyes you can just see Ms. Tracy in the dark, exorcising at the piano. Hauntingly seductive work at a time when we need her music more than ever.

about

These are strange and surreal new times…
Months into the coronavirus lockdown, the constant “shelter-in-place” has inflicted an unprecedented uncertainty, disillusionment, fear, paranoia, and melancholy.

“Seclusion 22” and “Whispers Behind the Glass” are dark piano pieces (recorded late at night in self-isolation) evoking the confinement, desolation, madness, and erotic longing.

We have been forced to create our own secret, secluded new worlds.
This is your lush accompaniment. Your own Night Music.

REVIEWS:

“Superior artists don’t need complexity. They can move you with just their presence and an instrument, which she plays here with subtle shadings of tempo and dynamics, and sophisticated dissonant harmonies.
Let us pray for the pandemic to end, and for Jill Tracy to continue to create these sublime piano instrumentals.”
—NPR’s Hearts of Space host/producer Stephen Hill

“So beautiful…truly talented… Jill Tracy’s music opens pictures in the mind. I love the melodic structure, and the style. Its a perfect mood music.
Her piano tracks are like a ghostly “Pearl” (Brian Eno / Harold Budd,) but unique in their mysterious nature that open that same door. I could cry, but there seems to be a mystery that I am seeking answer, but also by expressing the solitude. In some ways makes me think of those Italian made Warhol films.” —cEvin Key (Skinny Puppy)

“I turned the lights down low, lit a log fire, a candle & some incense & let Jill Tracy’s beautiful nocturnal music wash over me. I was utterly transported! It is very beautiful & powerful indeed. Exquisite work!” —David J, (Bauhaus)
